Baseball is a pretty challenging
game, but being one of the cornerstones of the American sporting
realm, many – children and adults alike – are constantly flocking
to the beginners’ circle, opting to learn the ways of playing in
the diamond. One of the most important skills to learn would be
hitting, which you can hone by practicing in your yard or preferably,
in the safety of a baseball batting cage.
The Tools
For beginners, lighter bats are
preferable, so you could easily get yourself used to carrying it and
swinging it with power the first few times. You can also use a
batting glove to provide you with a better grip and safety for your
hands, but there are many players who prefer to hold the bat with
their bare hands.
The Grip
Optimize your grip by making sure
that both of your hands touch. Right-handed people keep their left
hands on the bottom, and the opposite is true for the left-handed.
When you’re getting ready to swing, bend your knees a bit so you
can stabilize your torso as your limbs move.
The Eyes
Keep your eyes on the ball. It can
be quite a challenge to hit the ball using a rounded bat, but the key
really is in being able to observe the trajectory of the ball and
making a split-second decision as to where and when to swing for the
best batting you can muster.
